Sleeping Porches

In my future dream house I would have a sleeping porch. Equipped with a full size bed preferably a hanging bed and plenty of solar string lights.    I can picture my husband and I curled up on our porch bed and enjoying any breezes the summer night had to offer.

A busy week: Featuring Twinkle's Dance Camp

It has been a busy week since I was on here last.  My daughter has had dance camp every morning at the local REC center where she was learning the basics of ballet, modern, jazz and hip-hop dance.  She had a blast.
Other than that the Hubby has been working evening shifts most of this week, which he hasn't been very happy about.   We lucked out this week, when two different people loaned us air conditioners for the duration of the summer.  Until we got them in, it was so humid in our apartment we were not getting much sleep.  During the day, we have been spending our time reading, watching movies and just relaxing and in the evening we have been going to the local pool to swim.
Twinkle is the one in blue shorts and pink tee.

Father's Day

                                                   Happy Father's Day!

My poor husband had to work his shitty restaurant job today.  So instead of relaxing with his family he spent over 6 hours getting verbally abused by his boss (and kept an extra 30 min. to boot).
This morning, before he left I made him breakfast (eggs over easy and bacon) and gave him his gift....which was a tomahawk.  He loved it.  I tried to make his day as good as possible before he had to go to work and then again after his shitty day.
While he was at work, I took the kids to the local pool for the day.  It was fun, but I really wished he had been there.  Tomorrow he has off, so hopefully we will have some fun together.

Earthships

Earthshoip Shower and garden

I love the idea of living in an earthship.  I love the independence of it....of growing your own food in your home, producing your own electricity, etc.  I also love all the curved doorways and ceilings.  The pics. I like best are the ones where the walls are painted in shades of blues and greens.

This morning we had a visit from one of the many churches in our area.  The guy started talking about Jesus, getting into heaven and how we are all sinners and doomed for hell. He even offered to drive us to their church.   I was polite but all I could think was "yeah whatever".  I wonder what he would of said or done if I had told him I was pagan.  After he left I made this sign and put it into our front door window.  Hopefully, they will get the message.

Since I was on a roll today with the porch and the boy's room...I decided to work on my daughter's room.
Before:  The pigsty

Before: My daughter's dresser and entertainment center

After:  Twinkle's Bed

After: Her Dresser, entertainment center and bookshelves.

After: Twinkle's toy corner....what you don't see is this tiny alcove where we put a tall skinny shelf for her stuffed animals and art supplies.

This is my second project I worked on today.  My son's room.  I had started rearranging and trying to organize it starting a few weeks ago and I just never bothered finishing.    I managed to finish most of it today.  The only thing I need to do in their is organize my husband's dresser along with my own.

Unfuck Your Habitat: Project: Porch

On Tumbler I found a blog called #Unfuck Your Habitat.    It goes by the 20/10 or 45/15 philosophy of 20 min. of housework with 10 min. of rest or for larger projects 45 min. of housework with 15 min. of rest. People post their before and after photos of their household projects.

Today, I worked on my son's room and my back porch.  My son's room is not quite done yet but the porch only took me 45 min. to do (which included putting together a small tabletop grill I had found at a yard sale a year ago).  I am pretty happy with my progress on my house so far, this seems to be a good method of housework for me...esp. since I actually see progress.
Before:  Porch before cleaning....had cig butts and dirt all over the floor, dishes and full ashtrays.

My kids messy outdoor toys....which were also full of spider webs. Ick!

After:  Cleanup of the table.  Put a table cloth over the hideous table that came with the apartment.

Organized and cleaned my hoops and outdoor toys.
